Agra
- Agra, the old Mughal city, is a city of majestic monuments, exquisite
art and crafts and sumptuous cuisine. Mentioned as Agraban in great epic
'Mahabharata' the city is renowned for the monument that is epitome of
love, Taj Mahal. Founded by Raja Badal Singh in 1475, the city offers

The history of this beautiful city dates back to 1475, when it was
founded by Raja Badal Singh. Later Sikander Lodhi made it the capital of
his dynasty. The golden period of Agra started when its possession
passed from Lodhi dynasty to Babar. Next few centuries saw the
transformation of Agra into the city of monuments, palaces, art, culture
and commerce by three great Mughal monarchs- Akbar, Jehangir and Shah
Jahan. Akbar initiated the construction of Agra Fort in 1565, Jehangir
ornamented Agra with palaces & gardens and Shah Jahan beautified it
with the greatest masterpiece of Mughal architecture, the Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal - Taj Mahal erected by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to
fulfill the last wish of his dying wife, Mumtaj Mahal, is a beautiful

It has been selected as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Agra Fort
- The Agra fort build by Akbar and completed by his grandson Shah Jahan
is a magnificent fort that depicts the detailing of Mughal architecture.
Ram Bagh - It is one of the earliest gardens laid by Emperor
Babar. The body of Babar was buried here before taken to Afghanistan.
Sikandra - Built in a perfect Hindu and Muslim fusion style of
art and architecture, Sikandra is a mausoleum of Emperor Akbar. The tomb
is a perfect architecture marvel. The other major places of tourist
interest are Chini Ka Rauza, Mehtab Bagh, Itmad Ud Daulah, Mariyam's
Tomb, Jama Masjid, Fatehpur Sikri and Buland Darwaja.
